The diabetic is 15 times more likely to have an amputation than a non-diabetic. Diabetic foot problems are one of the commonest causes of admission to hospital for diabetic sufferers.

The St. Vincent Declaration has exhorted all of us to try to reduce the numbers of amputations by 50% within 5 years.
